Part 1 Fallacies Discussion 5 points

Go to http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/index.html#index . Choose a type of fallacy under Index that no other student has posted about yet. Click the link for the fallacy and read the description. Compose a new message in the Task 8 Fallacies Discussion.

1. (1 point) Put the name of the fallacy in the subject line of your message.

2. (2 points) In the body of your message provide a short example of this fallacy that you have made up yourself. Make it a sentence or two.

3. (2 points) Reply to another student's posting. Say if you think their example is a good one or not. If it is not a good example, fix it. If it is a good example make up another one. Choose a posting that has not been replied to yet or to one where you feel that the reply is not correct.

You can work with another person, just remember to put the other name in the post and reply.

Part 2 Hardware (5 points)

You will choose a topic from Project 1 Hardware or Project 2 Software and participate in a Wiki about it. A Wiki is a web page that is built by many people contributing content. It is like writing a paper with others.

A group of about 5 people should work on each topic. You will divide into groups during the class session. Wiki page topics are:

1. Input Components

List the input components and describe them

2. Processing Components

Definition of processing component
Processors made by Intel and AMD
System unit and system board
Clock speed
Bus width

3. Secondary Storage

Definition of secondary storage
Hard drives
CD and DVD drives
USB drives
Magnetic Tape drives

Definition of primary storage

Level 1, 2 and 3 cache

5. Storage Capacity

Each person in the group should pick a part of the topic to research in the textbook and on the web. Write up a description and save it in a Word document.

Go to Etudes and click the Wiki button. Click on the page for your topic. Click the Edit button and copy/paste in your text from the Word document. Put your name in parentheses afterward. Save your changes right away so the others in your group can see what you have written. Coordinate your efforts and edit the page so it all flows together and the necessary information is covered.
