Part 1 Discussion Descriptive Assumptions 5 points
Read "Critical Thinking: Distinguishing Between Inferences and Assumptions" at http://www.criticalthinking.org/page.cfm?PageID=484&CategoryID=68 The page provides lots of examples of everyday assumptions and inferences. Think about your own life.
Start a new topic in the Assumptions Discussion. In the subject line, give a title for your post. In the body of the message, describe a situation where someone used an assumption to make an inference about you, or where you used an assumption to make an inference about someone else. What was your view and what was theirs?
Reply to someone else's post and comment on their description. Would you make the same inference or a different one? Have experienced the same thing or something similar? Do not just answer yes or no. Write a few sentences in response.
This exercise covers the material in PowerPoint Project 3 in Dozer's Quintessential Guide to Computer Literacy.
