1. (10 points) Read "EDITORIAL - Chastising Cheaters" at http://media.www.thedmonline.com/media/storage/paper876/news/2005/02/02/Opinion/Editorial.Chastising.Cheaters-1591789.shtml. Determine 5 values held by the author. List each value followed by a short description of why you think the author must hold that value.
2. (6 points) Read "How to Cheat in School" at http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/Content?oid=34788&category=34784. Determine 3 values held by this student followed by a short description of why you think the student must hold that value. This article contains offensive language. The language sets the tone and gives you a feel for the student's personality. Do not just say that the student who cheats has no values. You need to step out of your own beliefs and values and try to view the world the way the author does.
3. (4 points) Write a short argument (a paragraph or two) describing how you feel about cheating in school. In your answer, mention at least 3 values that you hold that would either prevent you from cheating or allow you to cheat. Are there certain circumstances where you think it is justified? Don't feel that you should write something I want to hear to get a good score. I want to see an honest look at your own values.
