CSIT58 F Participation Credit 9/5: Using Windows and the Online Classroom

Complete the steps below for 5 points credit for today's class meeting.

Part 1 Private Messages 2 points

Log on to Etudes. From the Discussion and Private Messages area, click the Private Messages link. A Private Message can only be read by the person you send it to.

1. Click the Newpm button.
2. Make sure the To user box has my name selected.
3. Type Participation Credit 1 in the Subject box.
4. In the Message body, give me an email address and phone number to use to contact you outside the Etudes classroom.
5. Submit the message.

Part 2: Windows Questions 3 points

Follow along with my Windows and online classroom demonstration in class to answer questions in a document and upload it to Etudes.

Open a document in Word. Save the document as Sept5.

Type your name at the top and press Enter.

Type Participation Credit 9/5 and press Enter.

Answer the following questions in your document. Number each answer.

1. What are you doing when the mouse pointer looks like a 4 pointed arrow?
2. What does the mouse pointer look like when it is over a hyperlink?
3. How do you move a window?
4. Scroll bar question
5. What is the difference between check boxes and radio buttons in a dialog box?
6. Tiling Windows question

Save the document and close the Word window.

Switch to your Etudes window.

Go to Tasks, Tests and Surveys.

Click the links to Begin Module 1 Participation Credit. Accept the honor pledge.

Part 1 has no answer required so just click Next.

Browse to find your Word document with the Windows answers and Upload it.

Finish the Assignment.

Log out of Etudes and close all open windows.

Log off of Windows.
